Instructions for Multi-Server Environments

CrashPlan PRO network address information may need to be re-configured for your slave server, as the 11.05.2009 upgrade may have removed this information.

If you do not perform these steps after the upgrade, your PRO Clients will not be able to communicate with the slave server.

After upgrading your PRO Servers to 11.5.2009 you will need to:

Set Up a Primary Network Address for Your Slave Servers

Setting up a secondary network address is optional.

  1. Choose Settings > Edit Server Settings > Network Addresses.
  2. Enter the primary network address (if not already specified).
(optional) Enter the secondary network address.
Note: This is the backup communication port (typically 4282), not the website port.
  3. Click Confirm.
    Read the information carefully.
  4. Type Accept Changes.
  5. Click Save.

Verify / Enter Master Address Information in the Slaves

The initial version of the upgrade deleted this information; we posted a fix the day of the release.

  1. Choose Settings > Edit Master Server.
  2. Verify that the correct address is displayed. Enter the correct address, if necessary.
  3. Click Save.

Explicitly Synchronize This Information with the Master

  1. Choose Settings > Sync with Master.
  2. Click Submit.

Clients Do Not Upgrade Until the Master Does

Consultants with a lot of slaves per master:

Clients will not upgrade until the master upgrades. This means that for this release (11.5.2009), backups to a slave will be disrupted until both the slave and the master are upgraded. This is true whether you upgrade the slave first or the master first.
