Organizations

Overview

On the Organizations page you can view a list of organizations (and child orgs) for which you are authorized. Use the commands on the Organizations navigation menu to:

Organizations List

The list of organizations displays the following information about the organizations that you can view.

Click a name in the list of organizations to view more detailed information about that org. When you view an organization, you can use the commands on the Organization navigation menu to perform organization-related tasks.

Show All Users

Use Show All Users command when you want see a list of all the users associated with this org.

Click a name in the list of organizations to view more detailed information about that user. When user details are displayed, you can perform user-related tasks.

a letter filters Show usernames beginning with the selected letter
b Deactivated Show deactivated users
c Alerts only Show users with computers in a warning or alert state
d ServersDisplays only if you are backing up to multiple servers. Choose the server that contains the data you want to see. All Servers displays data across all servers to which you are backing up.
e Username Email address for this organization
f Clients Number of active computers registered to this user
g Selected Total size of the files selected for backup
h Complete % Current % backed up
i Total Stored Size of backup archive as stored on the PRO Server
j Comp % Size of backup archive relative to total size of files selected
k Last Backup Last time any data was backed up to the PRO Server
l Created Date user was created
m Month Delta Change in archive size from the previous month
n Displays the number of users


Download Org List to .xls

Use the Download to XLS command to create an .xls file that you can open in in Excel.


Add a New Organization

Use the Add a New Org command to create a new top-most organization.

bContact Information Indicates whether or not contact information for this org is hidden or displayed
Hide - Org contact information is hidden
Show - Org contact information is displayed
cMaximum Seats Maximum number of seats allowed
d Disk Quota - Archive Size (GB) Maximum combined size of the user's archives (backup files) in this and child orgs in GB
eAuto Offer Computers as Destinations within an Account Identifies whether or not computers in this organizations are automatically available as destination
Checked - Computers show up automatically as destinations. With Auto Offer… selected you don't have to explicitly select computers as backup destinations
Unchecked - Requires that you explicitly select computers as backup destinations
fLDAP Authentication Indicates whether or not LDAP Authentication would use the settings specified on the Server Settings page on the Servers tab
Checked - LDAP Authentication uses Server settings
Unchecked - LDAP Authentication not use Server settings
gAlerts and Report Notifications Indicates whether or not alerts and reports is to use the settings specified on the Mail and Alert settings on the Servers tab
Use Server Defaults - Uses Alerts and Reports settings on the Servers tab
hCustomizeAllows admin to enter specific Alerts and Reports settings
iThis organization has agreed… Accepts Terms and Conditions on behalf of all users in your org

For each org, this page displays the following information.

View Restore Report

Use the View Restore Report to see the results of restores in an organization. Dates shown in red did not complete.

Migrate Backup Archives

Use Migrate Organization Backup Archives command to migrate backup and consolidate all user data for this organization to a single mount point.

c Priority Indicates priority assigned to migration job
First - The job will take precedence over other jobs. The migration job must complete before other jobs begin
Last - Other jobs take precedence over the migration job. Other jobs in the job queue must complete before migration jobs starts
d Include Child OrgsIndicates whether or not to include child orgs in the migration
Checked - Migrate child orgs
Unchecked - Migrate parent orgs only

Edit an Organization

Use the Edit Organization command to review and change the settings for this organization.

Default User Settings

Use the Default User Settings command on the Organization menu to set the user defaults for the encryption key policy, mount point and backup destinations for new users in an organization.

WARNING: The Default User Settings page is one of the most powerful in the PRO Server admin console. Be careful. A few clicks on this page can result in removing all of the backup archives for any computers belonging to the entire organizational tree.

Checked - Inherited policy is displayed. Items and “b” and “c” are not available.
bDefault Encryption PolicyEncryption policy
Account Password - The encryption key is secured with the account password.
Private key - Replaces the default encryption key with a new key that the user supplies.
cLockEnforces the encryption policy to new AND existing users. Users cannot override this setting in the PRO Client.
NOTE: The options you select on the Security Settings page affect users' ability to restore their backups. In particular, locking an upgraded security setting deletes existing users' backup archives. As a result, you will be asked to confirm this operation before it takes effect.
dMount pointList of available mount points
Automatic Server Selection/Default Mount Point - CrashPlan automatically selects a mount point
eInherit Default DestinationsIndicates whether this user will inherit the default destinations from the organization
Checked - Uses the default destinations
Unchecked - Displays information about available destinations and options for adding new destinations

hAuto Start BackupIndicates whether this computer will begin backing up immediately upon connecting

Removing Destinations

Removing an active destination from existing computers will IMMEDIATELY remove all backup archives stored at that destination as soon as you click Save. You will not see a confirmation massage.

When you attempt to remove destinations AND apply that change to existing users, warnings appear in the Admin Console.

If Custom Config is not checked, the Default Client Settings window looks like this. In this case, you are viewing the Publish Default Client Settings window. In this window you can only publish (push down) settings to users and child orgs. You cannot make changes to the settings.

Add User

Use the Add User command to create a new user in this organization.

Add Child Org

Use the Add Child Org command to create an org within an existing organization.

cHosted Indicates whether or not this organization is being hosted by another PRO Server.
Checked - This organization is being hosted on another PRO Server. With the Hosted box checked, the Remote Master GUID field appears, in which you can enter the GUID for the master. In addition, several fields in the Settings area do not apply and are not displayed.
Unchecked - This organization is not being hosted on another PRO Server.
dContact Information - Show Org contact information is displayed.

Yes - Send text-only admin alerts. Use this option if your mail client has trouble displaying formatted text.
No - Send formatted admin alerts. Use this option if you mail client can display formatted text.
mUse server settings for LDAP authentication Indicates whether or not LDAP Authentication would use the settings specified on the Server Settings page. Unhosted only.
Checked - LDAP Authentication uses Server settings.
