In CrashPlan PRO Server, administrators can upgrade archive encryption key security for all the users in an organization and for all users backing up to a particular server.
This article assumes you are familiar with these concepts:
By default all the users in this organization will inherit the Account Password security policy. If you clear the Inherit Policy check box, you can change the default security policy for all the users in the organization.
With the organization information page displayed, follow these steps:
Click Organization from the top menu.
Choose Default User Settings from the organization menu.
Clear the Inherit Policy check box.
From the Encryption Key Policy list, choose the new encryption key policy:
(optional) Click the Lock check box if you want the upgraded policy to apply to existing users as well as to new users.
Locking an upgraded security setting and having the change apply to existing users, deletes existing users' backup archives. As a result, you will be asked to confirm this operation before it takes effect.
Click Save.
Choose Settings.
Choose Edit Server Settings from the Settings menu.
Choose Security.
From the Encryption Key Policy list, choose the new encryption key policy:
(optional) Click the Lock check box if you want the upgraded policy to apply to existing users as well as to new users.
Click Save.
Keep in mind that after you upgrade and lock the encryption policy, existing users will not be able to downgrade their policy.
Users cannot override this setting in the PRO Client.
Locking an upgraded security setting and having the change apply to existing users, deletes existing users' backup archives. As a result, you will be asked to confirm this operation before it takes effect.
