How To Search the Server Logs

Sometimes you don't get alerts or reports when you thought you should or you get an unexpected error that you want to investigate. The online server log makes it fast and easy to review CrashPlan system activity.

  1. In CrashPlan PRO Server, click the Servers tab.
  2. If you have more than one server (to be released), click on the appropriate server. The current server is identified with an asterisk (*).
  3. Click View System Logs. Screen Details.
  4. After the page loads, you can:
    • Change the number of lines to be displayed per page
    • Add a filter string (like email address, computer GUID, etc).
    • In the filter box, type (SEVERE|WARNING) to find all SEVERE and WARNING messages.
    • Page through the file with the arrow keys or jump to a specific page number.

Note that to keep the server logs from getting too large we occasionally start new files. The com_backup42_app.log.0 file will always be the most recent.

Filter strings you can try

BackupReporterDetail of a recent backup report
(SEVERE|WARNING)All lines with either SEVERE or WARNING in them
