PRO Client FAQ: Networking

We do not currently support mapped drives on Windows, however we do provide a suggestions for how to configure Windows to allow CrashPlan to see the mapped drive:

The LAN detection functions by comparing the IPs of the client and the server for similarity plus some exceptions. How you set up the network names determine whether the LAN detection works within your building;

• If you use an Internet routable hostname both inside and outside the office, your clients will NOT detect that they are on a LAN with the server.

• If you want an Internet routable hostname to function as a LAN destination when within an office, use local DNS within the building to route the name to your server.
